 *NEW * NCA:  Educational resources launched to raise awareness of consumer rights among students
A significant new educational initiative has been launched by the National Consumer Agency (NCA), the statutory body that aims to provide strong, modern consumer protection, safeguarding consumers in Ireland and empowering them to understand and to exercise their rights.
The initiative, which includes the interactive game Shop Smart and comprehensive teaching resources, is aimed at second-level teachers. The objectives are to raise awareness among young consumers about their consumer rights, to support the school curriculum and to provide a fun, interactive way to learn.
Developed by teachers for teachers, the educational resources can be used in Business Studies and Home Economics, Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme and Transition Year Modules, and are curriculum focused.
The resources include:
·         Lesson plans
·         PowerPoint presentations
·         Graphic organisers with exemplar material
·         Extensive links to guides and other resources on the NCA websites
·         Teachers’ guide
